3rd European Conference on Green Power Marketing 2004
THE POTENTIAL OF GREEN POWER TRADING
The key forum for business and policymakers in a growing market
18 and 19 March 2004, Lausanne, Switzerland
With more than 170 delegates from 26 countries, the 3rd European Conference on Green Power Marketing 2004, held on 18 and 19 March in Lausanne, Switzerland, proved a great success. Alongside a good many Swiss guests, the majority of participants came from other countries in Europe, including a number of eastern European states. This highly international audience is a remarkable feature of the 2004 event compared to the first two conferences.
The 3rd European Conference on Green Power Marketing 2004 attracted delegates at top management level: one quarter were CEOs or members of executive management, one quarter departmental heads, and one quarter key account or product managers. The remaining quarter consisted of representatives of governmental organisations, consultants, science and research, NGOs and the media.
The conference has become firmly established as a truly European forum and a meeting point for green power industry experts throughout Europe.
Conference focus - Renewables to gain from rising electricity prices
The 3rd European Conference on Green Power Marketing 2004 featured once again first-hand presentations of highly relevant information. Speakers predicted that owing to increased electricity consumption, reduced overcapacities and delays in building new installations, wholesale electricity prices were set to rise. This, combined with new environmental legislation by the EU, will benefit renewables, and hydropower in particular.
In the conference evaluation, delegates expressed particular satisfaction with the newly instituted workshops. An innovation at the 2004 conference, they are sure to be continued.
