EURELECTRIC Renewable energy is of primary importance in meeting the challenge of climate change and for security of supply. The Union of the Electricity Industry-EURELECTRIC supports the use of market mechanisms to increase the contribution to our energy supply from renewables. «Green power» is an ideal way to highlight the benefits to consumers, and EURELECTRIC supports progress in this direction. In particular, EURELECTRIC is delighted to participate in this 3rd European Conference on Green Power Marketing 2004. The Conference will serve to raise the profile of this important topic in electricity production and marketing. John Traynor, Leiter Abteilung Erneuerbare Energien bei EURELECTRIC in Brüssel |

ALTENER The European Commission has been supporting the development of technologies for harnessing renewable energy sources for more than 25 years and, in its White Paper of 1997, established the target of doubling the contribution of renewable energy to EU final energy consumption by 2010. As part of its campaign to accelerate the rate of growth of the EU renewable energy markets, the Commission is keen to encourage a broad debate on the best ways to achieve 22 % of renewable electricity in the EU by 2010, looks forward to the forthcoming renewable energy conference in Bonn in June 2004, and is very pleased to support, through its ALTENER programme, the 3rd European Conference on Green Power Marketing 2004 in Lausanne in March 2004.

EUGENE EUGENE, the European Green Electricity Network, welcomes the 3rd European Conference on Green Power Marketing 2004 as an essential opportunity to stimulate the voluntary green power market in Europe. By providing a harmonised and transparent labelling framework, EUGENE aims to encourage the development of green electricity and to ensure true environmental benefits of green electricity products. EUGENE also plays a useful role in driving the demand for labelled green electricity by promoting green electricity benefits to large consumers, thus creating a demand-pull for renewable energies. |

EUFORES EUFORES, the European Forum for Renewable Energy Sources, has been supporting the market penetration of renewable energy since its foundation in 1995. EUFORES brings Key-Players of the renewable energy sector together to give them a common forum to communicate, to link the interests, to develop best possible legal acts. The adopted EU-Directive on the promotion of electricity produced from renewable energy sources is one example therefore. The implementation process follows the legislation level. Here within EUFORES intends to encourage the search for the best possible supporting schemes. The 3rd European Conference on Green Power Marketing 2004 contributes to this essential search for a further energy market penetration of renewables. |

IEA Renewable energy in its different forms has been an extensive subject of the IEA's technology co-operation programmes for many years. In recent renewable energy activities of the IEA, market implementation and awareness issues have received increased attention as technology has evolved towards industrial solutions. While technology development continues to be fostered, analysing, understanding and promoting efficient mechanisms to establish sustainable renewable energy markets have become a further issue of the IEA. The 3rd European Conference on Green Power Marketing 2004 provides a unique forum for new market oriented approaches and experiences in the field of green electricity and the IEA Renewable Energy Working Party is therefore happy to support this important event. Dr. Roberto Vigotti, EnelGreen Power, Chairman IEA Renewable Energy Working Party |
